Welcome to Advocates for the Voiceless (A4V). Our mission is to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline, one client at a time.
As a pioneering law firm, we specialize in providing exceptional legal representation in the areas of special education, juvenile justice, social security, and pro bono assistance. Our commitment to justice and empowerment drives us to deliver comprehensive legal solutions that make a difference in the lives of individuals and communities in Maryland (Prince George's and Montgomery Counties), Washington, D.C., and New York (limited to NY Department of Corrections agency hearings).
Our journey began as an unregistered pro bono law practice in June 2021, founded by attorney Keli Cochran, Esq., who lived experience as a person with disabilities prompted her to action. We identified a pressing need for specialized legal support during the uncertain times of COVID-19 school closures and continued violations of special education access in D.C. schools. Since then, our scope has expanded to include incarcerated persons in disciplinary hearings in New York State, and accepting court appointments to represent D.C. youth with juvenile, post-commitment and special education matters before D.C. Superior Court.
At Advocates for the Voiceless, we are not just a law firm; we are the people we serve. Our team is deeply committed to addressing the unique challenges faced by low- to moderate-income individuals and marginalized communities. We offer tailored legal solutions with a focus on accessibility, affordability, and excellence.
If you need assistance in any of our practice areas, whether it's special education legal representation, juvenile justice advocacy, social security or pro bono support in social Security, NYS prisoner disciplinary hearings, or parole cases, don't hesitate to reach out to us by complete our intake form.
Your voice matters, and we are here to champion your rights and empower your future.
